Izzy was a birthday present from my very good friend Jan Johnstone of Mugwai Devon Rex in Glasgow, Scotland. She walked into my house as though she owned it and quickly settled into the routine of life south of the border. In this photograph she is aged about 8 years. A prolific breeder, she never had less than 6 kittens in a litter, on one occasion she had 9 and reared them all - with a little help from me. She is now aged 13 and still going strong. She is very agile and always sits on the top of the computer when I am working - quite a leap for an older lady.
Izzy tolerates Beag when she jumps on her and bites at her (that is Beag's way of playing!!), is quite prepared to curl up with her, albeit with some trepidation as she wonders what antic Beag is going to get up to next.
Herself and Leyla tolerate each other and. surprisingly to me in a cat who was such a good mother, she has no interest at all in the kittens. Probably she thinks she has done her share and now is the time to enjoy her retirement.
